Providing Digital Learning Services to Support Local Districts
VLLA members provide support and services to local school districts that go beyond supplemental course offerings. The digital learning services offered range from sharing digital content for use locally, professional learning opportunities promoting quality online learning, to sharing courses, a learning management system and training to start a local virtual program with local teachers.
Georgia Virtual received grant funding to support it’s Partner Up program a district or school based digital solution powered by local teachers. Georgia Virtual provides the learning environment and digital content resources along with technical support and professional development to create a comprehensive online or blended learning environment for Georgia districts’ students. PartnerUp provides flexibility that accommodates the district’s online, hybrid or blended needs free of charge during the GRE4T initiative. While many know Michigan Virtual for their online courses for students and professional development for educators, they also do a great deal of work behind the scenes in Michigan to conduct original research, test innovations in learning, and promote effective instructional practices. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they won an international innovation award for their collaborative partnership model, through which local schools and districts can use Michigan Virtual’s online course content to build a local online learning program and train staff in effective practices for online instruction. They also offer a wide variety of evidence-based SEL and mental health resources, including online programming for students and professional development for educators. In addition to supplemental K-12 online courses for part time students and a diploma program for full time students, CDE provides additional learning services such as, NCVirtual launched a Partnership Course Program in 2021 for districts throughout North Carolina. The program provides an opportunity for local districts to expand their online course options while using their local teachers. NCVirtual provides the technology, content, training, and support while districts provide their own teachers. Districts can enter a partnership agreement by purchasing enrollments in a select number of NCVirtual courses that are certified by Quality Matters. Idaho Digital Learning Alliance provides more than classes. We also deliver professional development for Idaho schools in cooperation with the State Department of Education, help rural schools secure Speech Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy services and lead in the Idaho Rural Education Association. However, the Virtual Arkansas program offers additional services to support Arkansas schools and provide online learning opportunities to their students. Below is a list of these services: The Virtual South Carolina (VirtualSC) Franchise Program offers districts a turn-key online learning solution tailored to the district’s needs. VirtualSC will provide the technology, curriculum, and training to help schools start their own online program. Learn more here. Virtual Virginia’s Outreach Program is designed to assist Virginia public school teachers and students by providing access to online learning modules via the Virtual Virginia learning management system at no cost. Each Virginia public school division has access to its own instance of the VVA learning management system (LMS) at no cost, plus free access to VVA and LMS support teams.Virginia public school divisions can import more than 100 K–12 courses and related learning modules to the LMS at no cost. Annually updated by Virginia public educators, content includes instructor guides, fully developed lessons with interactive practice and assessments, and question banks.
