Colorado Digital Learning Solutions
Colorado Digital Learning Solutions (CDLS) is Colorado’s state-supported online supplemental program which was created by legislation to support statewide online and blended learning. Through a statewide contract, CDLS, a 501(c)3 non-profit, provides online coursework for students in Colorado school districts, BOCES, and charter schools utilizing Colorado certified teachers. CDLS has expanded supplemental course offerings for middle and high school students to support credit
recovery, credit advancement, and curriculum enhancement options in over 100 of the 178 Colorado
districts.
CDLS supported over 2500 enrollments during the 2018-19 school year and currently offers over 200 course options to students in core areas, electives, advanced placement, STEM, CTE, and concurrent enrollment, all taught by Colorado licensed teachers.
Project and Highlights
- CDLS is part of a statewide and state-funded collaborative effort, Colorado Empowered Learning, to support districts in improving their online supplemental and blended learning practice.
- CDLS supports multiple delivery strategies of online content to districts that are not only expanding student options but also addressing teacher shortages across the state of Colorado. Strategies include providing complete curriculum and instructional support in Language Arts, Mathematics, and World Languages for many districts as well as targeted course supports in courses such as Honors Physics and Integrated Math.
- CDLS supports a “co-teaching” delivery model where local teachers (typically in small rural districts) partner with CDLS online instructors to expand local “blended learning” strategies and to support local instructors who have multiple course preparations.
